Diamond In Our Trash

I have been involved in numerous charitable institutions as a volunteer since I was still a student in the university. Due to this, I was exposed to the different needs of our less-fortunate brothers and sisters. My definition of less-fortunate has gone beyond those that are in need financially but also to include those who are lacking in education and information. It is so sad to see children who are very talented and have a strong potential to be successful give in to peer pressure and eventually begin to take drugs – only because they don’t know better. They don’t have enough information on what drug addiction can do to them.

Each one of us can actually help to prevent this from further happening. You can do car donations if you happen to have an old car you wish to dispose but have no way to. If you have a property that has been idle for quite some time, you can donate a house or property. There are ministries who use the proceeds of donate car and other properties drives to produce educational and other information materials for programs such as anti-drug campaigns. The materials are shown in community and civic centers so that the information can be shared to those who need them. Information on these campaigns is well-publicized in the internet. All we have to do is read the said information if we really want to help. Simple things such as these can have a strong influence in building a better community.

Things that are irrelevant and useless to one person can be a very valuable asset to another. People just have to be aware of their neighbor’s needs and be generous enough to share whatever it is that they can offer.
